With newer social networking Web sites emerging every other day, Sabeer ‘Hotmail’ Bhatia has also jumped into the fray with the launch of his social network christened “ApnaCircle.com”.

“ApnaCircle” will help people maintain relationships through scraps, uploaded photos, and customized messages. It will help them reach out to people they’ve never met before.A creation of Apnacircle Infotech, “ApnaCircle” is being promoted by Sabeer Bhatia, co-founder of Hotmail, and Yogesh Bansal, who is the founder and chief executive officer of the newbie social networking site.

China Vulnerable to Viruses Vs India

Published by Salil Rane under NEWS

“Computers used in government offices, and in aviation and health care sectors in India are less prone to Internet viruses than those in China,” a Symantec study has found.

China stands second — only after the US — in terms of sheer number of computers with multiple infections in government offices and criticial infrastructure sectors. This, the study attributes to the rapid growth of Broadband Internet in the country.
Going by the same parameter, India comes in at sixth place, which means it is much better off than China. Not only this, but China ranks among the top 3 countries in terms of malicious activity, target of DoS attacks, bot-infected computers, origin of attacks, and computers with multiple infections.Generally speaking, the top 2 countries with the highest number of Internet users worldwide — USA and China — are more vulnerable than all others, to Internet security threats. The 2 countries manage to feature in the top 3 names for most categories of threats and malicious activity.

Some of the critical infrastructure sectors that Symantec has taken into consideration for this study include: aerospace, telecom, health care, financial services, and agriculture to name a few.

TRAI urges Govt to boost broadband growth

Published by Salil Rane under NEWS

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) on Monday urged the Government to take urgent policy measures to boost broadband growth in the country including asking BSNL and MTNL to adopt a franchisee model whereby local players can use their copper lines to offer high speed Internet services. In a draft recommendation for broadband growth, TRAI has expressed concern that the Government has not taken a decision on a number of suggestions the regulator had made earlier including allocating Wi-Max spectrum for wireless broadband services and making National Internet Exchange of India more effective.

“Only 0.47 million broadband subscribers have been added in first six months of 2007, which is far below the growth trend required to achieve broadband policy targets. This necessitated an analysis of regulatory & policy frameworks and to formulate new approach necessary for rapid rollout of broadband in the country,” the TRAI said.

At the end of March 2007, there are 40.57 million Internet users and just 2.34 million broadband subscribers. “Therefore the growth of Internet subscribers is satisfactory but we are seriously lagging behind on broadband front. The targets fixed for the Broadband Policy are unlikely to be achieved. There are critical issues inhibiting broadband expansion in urban as well as rural areas. They need to be addressed urgently to facilitate expansion of broadband services,” TRAI said.

TRAI has suggested that Government should increase the target fixed for BSNL and MTNL for provision of broadband connections in 2007-08. “The Government should ensure availability of more number of Ku band transponders to roll out broadband services through DTH platform and utilise Universal Service Obligation (USO) fund to provide subsidy for providing broadband services through satellite in remote and hilly areas,” TRAI said.

Make Money By Freelancing

Published by ShReYaS under Make Money Online

Well here’s the beginning of the Money Mantra Series and I’m back with some info for you guys..
And let me make it clear that making money online is not easy as you see in those banners which state that you can make $1000 Per week and such. Its not that difficult too.. But you have to work smart but not so hard…

In order to start working online, first make a list of what you are ready to do and what type of online and off line jobs you can do and what are you good at.. Eg: Writing, Selling Stuff, Invest and Earn and many more.. Then, if you’re doing this for the first time take up one type of job at a time till you have some experience.

Lets start with Article Writing

This job is for those who are proficient in English another major languages which have some web space captured.. For becoming an article writer, first read some articles in sites like Cnet.com and check out the method of their writing.. Then write some articles on common niches like Webmaster, Blogs etc. Ask some experienced article writer or anyone to review the article. This will help you to set a suitable price for your content. Once you have the knowledge of writing, improve your words based on Search Engine Optimization. This is helpful for the article to receive more hits from search engines like Google,Yahoo etc.

Then visit freelancing sites like http://www.getafreelancer.com and http://guru.com and register to their free service and search for Article Writing related jobs. Once you get a satisfied job, work for them and gain experience..

You can also visit Digitalpoint Forums where you can search for freelancing jobs.. Other ways of making money with Digitalpoint will be given in coming posts…

Dataone Usage Checker

Published by ShReYaS under Dataone

Dataone usage checker is a handy application for BSNL Dataone Users to check the bandwidth of their connection. This application logs you into the Dataone site through the interface and it makes the necessary steps for you to check the Bandwidth. This application does not need you to log in to the Dataone site through IE and it helps a lot to Firefox users who are annoyed by the settings error in IE. This program also has the option to check the stats from three different Dataone sites.
